Biography

Dr. Kirby graduated from the University of Illinois in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. He worked as a physical therapist for two years at Mount Sinai Hospital. I
attended the Chicago Medical School where I earned my MD. I completed a internship in Family Practice at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. I competed Flight Surgeon training at Fort Rucker and I served as the Aviation Brigade Flight Surgeon for the 5th Infantry Division, Mech during the Persian Gulf War. I completed my residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin. After completing my training, I became the Medical Director of Central Carolinas Rehabilitation Center.

I interned in Family Practice at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. I joined the Neurological Institute of Savannah as the Medical Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for 10 years. I was the first board certified pain medicine in Savannah. For a decade, I served as the Medical Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at
the Neurological Institute of Savannah. I opened my own office, Savannah Pain Management, in 2005. Two years later I opened the only ambulatory surgery center in the coastal empire, Savannah Pain Management. I have been recognized as the best pain medicine physician by the Savannah Magazine for 8 out of the last 9 years.

I joined Summit Pain and Joint Centers in 2025 and look forward to continuing to provide the best medical care possible for my patients. I have a wife and two sons and have lived in Savannah for 30 years.
