Dr. Amit Patel is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Summit Spine & Joint Centers and an Operating Partner at Fulcrum Equity Partners. He is a physician, healthcare entrepreneur, investor, and operator with extensive experience building and scaling healthcare organizations.
Under Dr. Patel’s leadership, Summit Spine & Joint Centers has grown from a physician-led practice into a large, multi-state interventional pain management and ambulatory surgery center platform. During that growth, Summit has completed three successful private-equity recapitalizations, partnering over time with leading private-equity firms including Fulcrum Equity Partners, MSouth Equity Partners, and Wellspring Capital Management.
In addition to his role at Summit, Dr. Patel serves as an Operating Partner at Fulcrum Equity Partners, where he brings the perspective of a physician-founder and healthcare CEO to evaluating investments, supporting management teams, and helping healthcare businesses scale. His experience spans healthcare operations, private equity, physician practice management, ambulatory surgery centers, healthcare M&A, and strategic investing.
Dr. Patel is double board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and serves as Chief of Pain Medicine at Emory Decatur Hospital. He has also held leadership positions within organized medicine and has participated in statewide initiatives addressing pain management and opioid policy.
