Dr. Claudio A. Palma Caimanque is a double board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management physician with more than 20 years of experience helping patients reduce pain and restore function. He focuses on personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that combine advanced procedures with a compassionate, collaborative approach to care.
Dr. Palma earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, after graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Santa Clara University. He completed a transitional internship at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, an anesthesiology residency, and a fellowship in interventional pain management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Palma has cared for patients in a variety of settings, including SOMA Orthopedics in San Francisco, SpineCare Medical Group, and St. Luke’s Hospital. He has served as Director of Pain Management Services at Campus Surgery Center in Daly City and as Assistant Medical Director for Musculoskeletal (MSK) programs at Carelon Benefits Management in Sacramento, where he helped shape appropriate and effective use of pain-related interventions nationwide. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Palma is an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor of Interventional Pain Management at Touro University, California, where he is involved in training the next generation of physicians. He has also served as a pain management reviewer for several medical management organizations across the country, further extending his impact on quality and safety in pain care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Palma values building long-term partnerships with patients and their families, helping them understand their diagnosis and treatment options so they can make informed decisions and return to the activities that matter most to them.
