Dr. Dan Martin is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He grew up in Atlanta and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia State University. He earned his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia in 1979. Dr. Martin completed his internship in general surgery at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in 1980. Dr. Martin completed 3 years of residency training in neurosurgery in 1982 and anesthesiology in 1984. He received his pain management board certification from American Board of Anesthesiology in 1996. He started the pain management fellowship program at Medical College of Georgia in 1998 and sat as Program Director for 10 years. Dr. Martin has also worked as a professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College of Georgia since 1994.
As a pain specialist, Dr. Martin believes that the most effective method of improving chronic pain and function is through conservative and interventional procedures. The treatment goals are to minimize the need for opioids, improve quality of life and function so that patients may return to their normal daily lives.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, fishing, and target shooting.
