Dr. Chai is double board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. He was raised in Montgomery, AL and attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he received a degree in Biology. Following college, he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Next, he completed a traditional rotating internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center/Mercy Hospital followed by residency training specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Georgetown University Hospitals/National Rehabilitation Hospital. Finally, he completed an interventional spine fellowship locally in Marietta, GA at Non-Surgical Orthopaedics where he received concentrated high volume training in the management of musculoskeletal and spine pain.
His interventional pain management practice is focused on the goal of restoration of function and optimization of quality of life through a holistic comprehensive interdisciplinary approach. He has additional training in medication management of chronic pain syndromes.
After completion of training, Dr.Chai spent his spent his first 7 plus years as an attending physician establishing a busy and successful pain management practice as the first and sole pain management specialist among a group of orthopedic surgeons in Savannah, GA. This provided him with extensive experience in the management of a vast array of chronic orthopaedic pain. As a result, he has performed over 15,000 interventional pain procedures and is well versed in providing a wide range of custom treatment options unique to each individual. He enjoys the patient interaction and the development of the doctor-patient relationship in order to provide the most appropriate care plan specific to the patient’s needs, while employing the best evidence-based practices. His philosophy incorporates the involvement of the patient and family in the important decision making process for treatment.
He is excited to relocate closer to family to his favorite city of Atlanta and join Summit Spine and Joint Centers, where he can utilize his experience and skill set to contribute through serving the pain management needs of the residents of Greater Atlanta and surrounding cities.
