Dr. Trusharth Patel completed a Bachelor in Science degree in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University in 2002, graduating with summa Cum Laude honors. He completed his medical degree from the prestigious Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2006 and completed an Anesthesiology residency at the prestigious Washington University in 2010. He then further pursed an Interventional Pain Fellowship at Washington University, graduating in 2011.
Dr. Patel joined the department of Anesthesiology’s Center for Pain at Emory University in September, 2012 treating complex pain cases with innovative therapies. He served as the Director of Interventional Pain from 2014 to 2021, helping to establish standard of care for various pain conditions and treatments as well as bring innovative therapies to Emory University. He also served as the Director of Clinical Operations from 2019 to 2021. His clinical interests include advanced interventional pain therapies such as spinal cord stimulation, vertebral augmentation for compression fractures, and novel application of radiofrequency ablation.
Dr. Patel has been active in service at a local level with in the Emory School of Medicine, and has also been active nationally serving on various committees promoting the specialty of Interventional Pain for national organizations such as the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Dr. Patel also taken an active leadership role in research focusing on spinal degenerative conditions. He has authored numerous publications on original research, review articles, book chapters, and pain medicine books.
Dr. Patel has received numerous awards for recognition of excellence as a clinician, in service, and in teaching. He has taken an active role in educating and training residents and fellows in the field of interventional pain for many years and has also taught at a national level teaching advanced interventional pain therapies to practicing physicians at national workshops and
conferences. Dr. Patel is excited to bring his extensive knowledge and clinical skills to the Summit Spine and Joint Centers team.
